I'm me, I'm Deaf

Deaf since 2018

  • Right ear - Totally deaf. A side effect of breaking my ankle while out trail running, long story... I now have a Cochlear Implant in the right ear to be able to understand some of what is being said to me. I said some, it's good, but far from perfect.
  • Left ear minus 70% hearing, but the nerve is totally screwed, so minus 90% comprehension of spoken words ... ) 


Blogs

  • I love writing on my blog, generally posting about topics I feel may be helpful to others, such as Linux. Or about the sports that I do, or sometimes about gadgets that I like and use.
  • I’ve been posting on my WordPress blog for years, but honestly, it's too much work, especially when you want to write a quick or short post.
  • On WordPress, writing a simple post can take hours, formatting and fiddling around to get it looking right and done. 
  • That’s why I’ve now switched to Pagecord. Write, Post, Done. Simple.


Sports, Computers, Gadgets

  • I retired at 60, I’m now 68 (2026) after running my own mail-order company in France for 30 years. Now I have more time on my hands.
  • These days, I split my time between my computers (plural, I've got several ...), all Linux, and keeping fit, CrossFit, Hyrox, Biking - road, mountainbike and gravel. Running - road or trail. Musculation and now some paddle.
  • This year, I'm going to play with Meshtastic & Meschcore, my latest gadgets


Too much for my age, but hey, you only get one life.
